Download your manual here.

You can print it out or you can type in it while it’s open on your computer. I recommend having it handy while you watch the videos so you can answer the questions.

Also, if you would like to earn money sharing this course with others, send me an email and I will let you know how.

Guide One

In guide one I focus on using screens as entertainment. I have four videos for you to watch: Introduction, “I’m So Bored,” Video Games, and Memes and Vines. Make sure you have your manual ready when you get started!

In this first 11 minute video I am going to talk about how comparisons make our job harder, share some old photos of teens, and then talk a little bit about tech shaming. Are you ready? As my teen son loves to say, “let’s go!”

Does your teen ever complain about being bored? In this ten minute video I am going to discuss dopamine, how it affects teens differently, and what parents can do to help their teens handle boredom.

This third video is all about video games. I discuss both the benefits and dangers of video games, why we like to play them, show a hilarious Studio C clip, and finally I give a few suggestions to parents.

The final video in guide four is a short five minute video about memes and vines because they are such a big part of entertainment for our teens!

Take Action

Now that you have learned more about the ways we use screens as entertainment, pick one of these actions to take:

  1. Print out the video game questionnaire in the additional resources section of the packet, sit down with your teen, and have an in-depth conversation about the video games in your home.

  2. Sit down and journal about all the things you are grateful for when it comes to technology and screens.

  3. Talk with your teen about using screens as entertainment. Discuss what you loved about screens when you were a teen and what each of you enjoy now. Is there anything the two of you would like to change in this area?

My next guide is all about emotions and using screens as buffers!
